Snowroads commission

In March 2018 Calum was commissioned to write music to promote and compliment the tourist route known as the Snowroads.

Discover the Snow Roads.

Uncover wild and untouched stretches and hidden stories in thriving towns and villages for an unforgettable experience.

Explorers of this 90-mile journey, through the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, will discover dramatic landscapes carved by granite and ice as it winds from the picturesque market town of Blairgowrie through to the highland village of Grantown-on-Spey.  Enjoy breath-taking scenery, at every turn, as you traverse the highest public roads in Britain and spot a curious glimpse of snow on the hill tops almost all year round.

Live like locals in the communities of Blairgowrie, Braemar, Ballater, Tomintoul and Grantown-on-Spey and experience a range of natural and cultural attractions, all peppered with native flora and fauna and wildlife spotting. Look out for three scenic route installations enticing you to discover new perspectives.

The Snow Roads Vision.

Uncover the wonders of the Snow Roads: 90 miles ready to be explored by car, motorbike or bike.

The Snow Roads is a scenic route with a shared vision led by its communities, businesses, organisations and local authorities. It aims to highlight endless amounts of history, adventure and exploration potential to encourage you to experience the culture of the local folk who call this place home and truly discover the Cairngorms National Park.

We are reaching out to the communities along the Snow Roads to ask what tales and hidden treasures they would like you to uncover. Contributions can be e-mailed to stories@snowroads.com and photos@snowroads.com.

A suite of digital tools to offer a collection of these stories, histories and natural and cultural aspects which epitomise this beautiful area will be ready to explore and enhance the experience in summer 2018.
